Calling all Blue Lakers! Come support Blue Lake and join us for a great time at Beef-A-Rama this Saturday! Come early and look for the Blue Lake 3> Beef banner to meet up with lake friends. Dick Cotter will be preparing his award winning Buffalo Beef. Last year he took 3rd place in the “Rare” division. You don’t want to miss it! See you Saturday!
Here’s a little update on our loon drama from earlier this summer!
Interesting update from The Loon Project regarding serious drama with our resident loons! http://loonproject.org/2015/07/20/blue-confusion/
Smokey the Bear, that is!
We just received a report from Becky Abendroth that a black bear was seen roaming on their island property. It’s important to take precautions to keep safe and avoid property damage. Here is a link to a DNR publication on living harmoniously with bears.

And while we’re speaking of Smokey, let’s take a moment to pay attention to fire safety guidelines. For prevention and safety tips along with current fire danger and burn permit information please visit the link below.
Welcome back Summer! It sure has been fun to see Blue Lake come to life this weekend…docks, swim platforms, boat lifts all being positioned for summer fun. It seems like most have these chores down to a science but every so often something goes wrong! Missing bolts, broken boards or missing rafts and dock sections sure can spoil things! If you’re something or if you’ve found anything floating where it doesn’t belong, please contact bluelakeinfo@bluelakeminocqua.org. We’ll post it on the web site and get things back to their owners!
So far we’ve heard that the Krueger’s are missing two 4′ X 10′ cedar dock sections. Please let us know if you come across them.
Also, remember that we have nesting loons on the lake so please steer clear of the platforms. We hope to have loon chicks in a few weeks!
Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend!
We received word today that the ice is out and a loon didn’t waste any time returning to the lake! Yes, there was a little bit of snow that fell overnight but I can already hear the boat engines revving up. Teresa Colianni sent these photos so you can see for yourself. Look closely for the loon in the second photo!
Have you heard the exciting news? Blue Lake took 3rd place at Beef-A-Rama in the “Rare” Division for first time roasters. Special thanks and congratulations to Dick Cotter (and his trusty assistant, Tim Onofryton!) for his award winning beef. Dick’s Buffalo Beef was seasoned with his special Buffalo sauce. Rumor has it, he’s considering bottling it! 😉
In case you missed it, here are some highlights…
Did you know that Blue Lake is participating in Beef-A-Rama? Dick Cotter has volunteered to create his famous Buffalo Beef. Be sure to join in on the fun and stop at the Blue Lake booth in front of Kurt’s Barber Shop! See you there!
A loon was seen today struggling with a fishing bobber tangled around its foot. The Wildlife Center came to assist but could not locate the loon. Should you see this loon tomorrow please call or text Margaret Krueger at 414-331-3985. We believe that the entangled loon is not from our resident loon family. Thanks!
