I’m saddened to let you know that Blue Lake has lost two more residents. William “Hutch” Hutchinson passed away on August 6, 2017 and Heidi Morris lost her battle with cancer on August 11, 2017 at the Seasons of Life Hospice in Woodruff.

William Edwin “Hutch” Hutchinson of McHenry, Illinois passed away on Sunday August 6, 2017 in his home surrounded by his children.
Hutch was born on Dec 8, 1929 to Margaret and James Hutchinson in Chicago, IL. He attended Schurz High School, in Chicago where he met the love of his life JoAnn Macey. Hutch was a stand out athlete in basketball and football and after only playing two years of football was awarded a scholarship for football at University of Wisconsin at Madison. As a senior, Hutch, earned the starting halfback slot and was
the Big Ten leader in Punt returns. Hutch’s team (Wisconsin Badgers) nished the season as Big Ten Champions and participated in the 1953 Rose Bowl against University of Southern California. He married JoAnn on Sept 18, 1956.
In 1958 Hutch and his wife moved to McHenry where he taught Physical Education and Driver’s Education at McHenry High School for 28 years. He loved coaching and coached Football, Wres- tling, Cross Country and started the track and eld program. In 13 seasons as Head Wrestling Coach Hutch had 10 straight winning seasons in the North Suburban Conference including the 1962 Con- ference Championship. As Head Cross Country Coach for 19 years Hutch won 6 Conference and 6 County Championships, plus a 3rd place nish in the State Championships. Hutch was also the rst coach for the Girls Cross Country Team which started in the late 70’s. In 2009 Hutch, along with his daughter Sue were inducted into the McHenry High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Hutch loved to spend time with his family, shing, woodworking, gardening and traveling. After retiring from teaching Hutch and his wife purchased a cabin in northern WI. ey enjoyed many years renovating their lake house and making many wonderful friendships on the lake. Hutch was also a history bu , with a special focus on the Civil War. He always enjoyed a good college football game and was a lifelong Bears, Cubs and Bulls fan.
Hutch is survived by his children and grandchildren: Tom (Karen), William, Trevor Lauren, Jerry (Cindy), Liam and Charlie, and Sue (Joe) Carson, Macey and Jack.
Hutch was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn and brothers James, Jerome and Robert.
A celebration of Hutch’s life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2017. Visitation: 11:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. Memorial at 1:00 p.m. at the Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Dr. McHenry, il 60050.
